CARTUXA
Cartuxa gets its name due to the proximity of the Cartuxa Monastery built for the Carthusian Order between 1587 and 1598 by Archbishop Teotonio of the house of Braganca. The great grandfather of Eugenio de Almeida the creator of the foundation bought the estate in 1869.
Cartuxa is a household name in Portugal known for its high-quality wines as well as the legendary Pera-Manca wine which is only released in limited quantities and only in exceptional years. A wine with over 700 years of history.
